Marriott Expands Its Presence in Thailand with 50th Hotel Opening
Marriott International celebrated a significant achievement with the opening of its 50th hotel in Thailand, the Madi Paidi Bangkok, Autograph Collection, located in Bangkok's Thong Lor district. This boutique hotel offers 56 rooms and suites, marking a milestone in Marriott's presence in Thailand.
The company has ambitious plans for further expansion in the country, aiming to add 10 more hotels by the end of 2024. These new properties will encompass a range of Marriott's brands, including luxury, premium, select, and extended-stay options. Notable upcoming developments include a new Ritz-Carlton in Bangkok and the introduction of leisure-oriented properties in Phuket and Khao Lak.
Jakob Helgen, area vice president for Marriott, expressed the company's delight in reaching this milestone, emphasizing the trust and partnership with hotel owners and franchisees that made it possible. Marriott's 27-year history in Thailand has resulted in a diverse range of accommodations across 15 distinct brands, serving both domestic and international travelers and showcasing the country's beauty.
Looking ahead, The Ritz-Carlton brand is set to make its debut in Bangkok in 2024 with The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, occupying the first 24 floors of a 50-story tower in the One Bangkok mixed-use development. Additionally, the Tribute Portfolio brand is expected to launch in Thailand with the opening of the Tribute Portfolio
Metropole Bangkok in 2024. Other anticipated openings in 2023 include two Marriott Executive Apartments, Le Méridien Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort, and the debut of the flagship Marriott Hotels brand in Khao Lak in 2024. Moxy Hotels is also planning to introduce its playful spirit with Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong, while Courtyard by Marriott will add two new hotels near Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok and in Phuket, expected to open in late 2023 and 2024, respectively.
