Igloo Expands Thai Operations to Support $32B Insurance Industry

Singapore-based InsurTech firm Igloo has named John Chen as Country Manager for Igloo Thailand, tasked with driving growth and partnerships in the Thai insurance market.

Chen brings 15 years of experience in emerging and developed markets and has held key roles in Southeast Asia's e-commerce and fintech sectors, including co-founding a neobank. Igloo's latest collaboration is with Capital A's AirAsia Ride, offering affordable Personal Accident and Motor Insurance starting at THB 3990 ($113) for 180 days.

Thailand's high road traffic fatality rate has led to increased demand for affordable insurance products. Igloo's focus on lower car insurance costs aligns with 87 percent of surveyed individuals in Thailand expressing a preference for such affordability, as per Accenture's 2019 Global Financial Service Consumer Study.

With Thailand's growing domestic insurance market and government support for technology-driven initiatives, Igloo aims to expand its presence and partnerships, emphasizing its commitment to 'Insurance for All,' under John Chen's leadership.
