Hong Kong businesses are keen on expanding their presence in Thailand, particularly in the manufacturing and logistics sectors. In the wake of the pandemic, 30 companies from Hong Kong are looking to invest and establish production bases and logistical systems in Thailand. This collaboration promises to be mutually beneficial, offering Thai SMEs and startups valuable distribution channels and knowledge exchange opportunities, including in the e-commerce sector.

A meeting between Thai trade representative Nalinee Taveesin and Ronald Ho, Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Southeast Asia and South Asia, underscores the long-standing trade and investment alliance between the two regions. The meeting aimed to strengthen trade relations and build on Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's recent visit to Hong Kong to attract potential investors.

Additionally, the discussion included ways to promote Thai silk globally. Kevin Yang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, suggested showcasing the versatility of Thai silk for applications beyond clothing, such as decorations and furniture through exhibitions.

Hong Kong, renowned as a global financial and investment hub, plays a pivotal role in connecting China with the rest of the world. The trade between Thailand and Hong Kong amounted to approximately $11.8 billion in the previous year, solidifying Hong Kong's position as Thailand's 13th major trade partner.
